Saturday News

Today was a good day! I didn't get as much cleaning done as I had planned, but was able to tackle a portion of the basement and also laundry. It's only Saturday so I still have tomorrow to finish my checklist. Marianna & Rol came over today to visit and stayed for a couple hours. It was so nice to catch up. I really do miss her!

Getting ready to settle in for the night....

Happy Saturday!

Good News......

Couple quick things........

First of all, the NASCAR tickets were delivered today! I can't wait to call Zander tonight so I can surprise him with them. And there is a possibility that we might be able to get some "Pit Passes" too! He is going to just die.....I can't wait to hear his excitement. I only wish I could be there in person to tell him.

Secondly, the State of Michigan finally issued our permits to go ahead with the stair lift for Don. They will be installing it next Wednesday at 9am....Yippee! That means I REALLY have to get the basement in order this weekend because if Don sees it the way it looks right now he will just die :)

Have a great weekend y'all!

TGIF....

TGIF....what a long week. THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!

So, to start things off....the past week my right eyelid has been very tender. I've been trying to wear my glasses more thinking I might have some sort of infection starting, but it wasn't getting any better. Finally last night I decided to jump up on the bathroom counter and really inspect my eye in the mirror...I found the problem (I think). I had this random eyelash growing in a weird spot. It was white at the core almost as if you could "pop" it. I grabbed the tweezers and pulled out the eyelash (after many tries) and kind of squeezed the spot a little to see if anything would come out of that white spot. Well, nothing did so I finally gave up because my eyelid at this point was in excruciating pain. I wake up this morning and my eyelid is so swollen I can't even open my eye all the way. Needless to say, I think maybe I made things worse. And to top off the swollen eye, the white thing I was trying to "pop" is still there and it's bigger then before. I think I'm going to give it a few days to see if it gets better and then off to the doctor to have it checked.

I finally got to see my mom last night....yippee!! Boy, she sure is glad to be home.

No major plans for the weekend other than "trying" to get the basement in order. My friend Marianna is coming to visit tomorrow. It's been so weird because we both lived in the apartments and saw each other almost daily and now I hardly ever get a chance to visit with her. I'm excited to "catch up" with her.

Happy Friday!

Wedding Venue

Okay, so Don and I checked out the new Holiday Inn over by the mall as a possible wedding site. It was nice, but I'm just not sold on it yet. I really want to keep looking at other places. For those of you who are married....is the reception/ceremony site something you will just "know" when it's right? Is it like your wedding dress where everyone says "You will just know"?

I would also like to check out McCamley Plaza and also the Heritage Dome Center.

Another Day

Not too much going on today....It's a little foggy out and the roads are kind of slick, but the good news... it's supposed to get up to 48 degrees today....Yippee! There's going to be some rain involved, but at least it will be warmer.

Don won $820 in Keno last week while we were out to dinner so my mom is riding with him to Lansing today to go cash it in. Yippee........we could definitely use the money. The best part is that he only spent $5 on the Keno ticket and he won. We made our first mortgage payment yesterday so the timing is perfect.

We have a lot of stuff we want to get done this weekend and I'm kind of excited. I love cleaning and decorating so what more could I ask for. We want to get the basement (family room) in some type of order so that we can start utilizing the space. Not to mention that it would be nice to send Little Don down there to play his video games once in a while....hehe

My mom made it home from Florida last night and I'm so excited....I feel like she has been gone forever. Of course we talk EVERYDAY, but I haven't actually seen her in over 10 days. I hope they come over tonight to see the new improvements to the house. I would like to make dinner for them but we need to get groceries soooo bad. We have absolutely nothing in the house right now. We've been feeling so blahhhh lately that grocery shopping just doesn't appeal to either of us. We will run to the store to pick up an item or two, but at some point this weekend we need to make a major trip for food. Especially since we have Little Don this weekend and boy can that kid eat. He doesn't weigh more than a wet noodle, but I think he's going through some sort of growth spurt because the amount of food he can intake amazes me! He eats more than Don and I put together! As for an update there....things have been going great with him. We are seeing some major improvements and it gives me hope :)

I know I'm not catholic, but I always like to give something up for lent. I usually try to make it some sort of healthy choice and this time I picked chocolate. I've never really been much of a fan of sweets, but for the past month I can't get enough of chocolate. I find myself stopping at a convenience store just to run in and grab a candy bar. I'm stealing candy out of the chocolate drawer at work all day long, I've basically demolished all of the chocolates I got for Valentines day, I bought a package of no-bake cookies last week and had the entire thing gone in just a matter of days and just last weekend I ran to the store for milk and ended up buying a couple boxes of brownie mix. So, as you can see.....I've got a problem! Let's just hope I can kick this phase before it all goes to my hips...and thighs...and butt!!

Happy Thursday!

Blahhh......

To start things off....we got some terrible news about my step-mom yesterday. She has breast cancer. Please keep her in your prayers!

I'm feeling so blahhh today...I don't know if it's because it's the middle of the week or what, but I just can't get moving. Don and I went to bed at 9:00 last night and I still feel like I'm a walking zombie. Soooo tired!

My mom comes home from Florida today....Yippee! She's been down there for 10 days staying with G'ma Joyce and I just know she is ready to come home....can you blame her? LOL

Happy Wednesday!

Home Improvements

Lowe's installed our new carpet in the basement yesterday...took them FOREVER! It looks good, much better than I thought it would actually. After they left I put myself to work and got my entire office done and decorated and it looks great. I tried to take pics, but my camera is not working (again). Our new kitchen floor doesn't get installed until next Monday and I'm trying to be as patient as I can be but the tiles have been sitting in my dining room since last Thursday and its killing me. I say it's killing me for two reasons....(1) the fact that we have a bunch of boxes in the dining room is enought to put me over the edge.....(2) I can't stand that I've been looking at the tiles for 5 days now. I want them installed....I'm so impatient!

These should be the last of our major home improvements for now. We've got a couple projects we want to price out this summer but only time will tell which we do this year and which can wait until next. We still want to paint our bedroom and the kitchen, but are still having problems deciding on paint color. To be honest, we haven't really "tried" to decide on a paint color. We really need to get serious and sit down with the samples and just make a decision. It seems like everytime we look at the samples we are doing a million other things and we just can't focus on the task at hand.

Happy Tuesday!

IKEA

So I never thought I would be the "blogging" type, but my life has become so hectic with the new house, the wedding planning and my job that I feel like I have lost touch with everyone and thought maybe this would be a quick way to keep everyone updated on my life since I no longer have time to return phone calls, answer emails, etc. Again, I'm sorry for falling off the face of the earth!

I made my first trip to IKEA on Saturday with my sister Rachel and it was so incredibly awesome! I think we made it through in about 3 hours, but I could have definitely spent more time there. There's such a mass selection of items that if I hadn't of done my homework ahead of time I think it would have gotten overwhelming. I made it out of there spending $150 less then my fiance had given me permission for...LOL I put together a dresser I purchased and I must admit that the quality is great and the amount of time/effort that it took to put together was quite minimal. I can't wait to see the other items once they are put together. Out of my entire purchase I must admit, my favorite item of the day was this "bunch" of willow branches that I plan to use as part of my wedding decor. It was only $14.99 for the entire bunch which was too big for my hands to fit around and taller than I am! What a great buy...I only wish I would have gotten 3 sets instead of 2.

On another note, we are getting the new carpet installed in our basement today. I had to empty out all the rooms and I can hardly move today. My butt muscles even hurt! You would think I was in better shape then that considering I just moved all of this in there about a month ago. I'm excited to see the new carpet once I get home. I kind of bummed though....our kitchen flooring isn't going to be installed until next Monday....urrggghhhh! It's going to look so nice (I hope)!

It's been 2 weeks since we ordered Don's stairlift and it was only supposed to take 7-10 days to install. Don called the installers last week and it sounds like they are having trouble getting the permits from the State of Michigan for the install. I guess the State is all backed up and we are on a waiting list....it's so irritating! Don is waiting patiently, but I feel so bad for him. He so badly wants to get down to the basement...especially now that it's being redone. Keep your fingers crossed that maybe in the next week we are good to go!
