Whirlwind...

The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind...so much personal stuff going on with my family and also fiance's family! Not to mention we are 45 days away from the wedding so we have switched our minds into another gear entirely.

In the past 2 weeks I have had my makeup trial, my hair trial, and tonight is my final dress fitting!! Talk about being pampered :)

My makeup trial went great! I'm not sure I thought I could be that beautiful...amazing what a few good products will do for a person! Fiance even loved it. The first words out of his mouth were "Holy Cow! You look 10 years younger!" At first I took that as a compliment, but the more I think about it, I wonder: Do I really look that bad to begin with?...LOL
Here is a pic of the makeup trial many hours afterwards and also taken with my iPhone so not the best quality. (Note: I had already removed my lipstick and taken the false eyelashes off)

My hair trial was next and to be honest...I had literally no idea how this was going to turn out. Granted, I love love love the girl doing my hair (love ya Morgan) and have full confidence in her, but my hair really isn't that cooperative and due to the nature of my haircut, my options are limited. But, as usual, Morgan is amazing and she was able to make me look gorgeous! We are opting out of using my headpiece and I didn't have my veil with me, but this is the general idea of what we are going for (just imagine the veil clipped into the back of my head)

(Note: the picture taken of me from the front angle did not turn out so you only get my sides and the back view)

My dress fitting is in a couple hours and I'm more than excited. I can't wait to have the dress on again. And this time to have it actually fit me! Well, lets hope it fits me...I've gained a few lbs the past couple weeks so I'm praying the dress will zip up!

Flowers, Dress, Veil....Oh My!

Before I begin this post, I would like to apologize...I do not have the source to many of the pictures below. They are from my wedding file I started long before this blog. If anyone knows the source please let me know and I will add

Flowers
Last night I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with my FMIL and we had such a good time. We did nothing but talk wedding for about 3 hours. She gave me some much needed input on my flowers so I was much appreciative. I've decided I'm going to try and do some test runs involving silk carnations and see if I can come up with anything that resembles this.....

Dress
I also got a chance to show her some of the dresses that I am drooling over these days. I was a little worried she may not like my choices, given that I'm going rather casual due to our change in venue. But to my surprise, she was drooling almost as much as me. This dress by Alfred Angelo is still my top contender and my FMIL agrees..

We also took some time to look for a Mother of Groom dress for her and she was having a blast. She found 2 great contenders from Nordstrom's Dress Shop.

J Kara Beaded Dress with Bolero Jacket in Navy/Silver

JS Collections Bead Lace Chiffon Gown in Black/Nude

Veil

I've been in love with this veil ever since I saw it on The Perfect Palette.

And much to my surprise my FMIL loved it too. She thinks it will look fab on me...and I agree!

Veil or No Veil???

Through this whole wedding planning process, I've spent little time thinking about my hair for the day of. I knew from the beginning that I was NOT going to grow my hair out for the wedding just to cut it the day after. I have very fine hair and when it's long it's just not attractive. It just kind of lays there lifeless. For the past couple years I have kept my hair in an angled bob and I just love it. I play around with the length here and there....growing my sides down to below my chin in the fall/winter and then cutting it up above my chin for the spring/summer, but that's about as creative as I get.

As far as the wedding day, I guess I had envisioned myself wearing a tiara, but I'm not sure i want a veil.......I know, it sounds crazy doesn't it? A bride who doesn't want to wear a veil? What ?!?!

Well, today I came across this picture from The Perfect Pallete and I totally fell in love. She even has the same haircut as me, so for the first time I was able to get a "sense" of what I might look like.

Is a birdage veil in my future? What do you think?
