A Mothers Love

If you are a follower of this blog, you must know what an animal lover I am.  We've got 4 pets and I'm itching for another dog.  I just haven't been able to convince my hubby to feel the same way!

Lainey is our 10 month old pit bull.  She is one of the loves of my life and we've become quite the pair! I have such a special relationship with her that I don't have with any of my other pets.

Tucker and Walker are my cats and they were with me through some crucial times in my life.  In a weird sort of way, they are my best buds and I will always love them more than any person should love an animal.

Sorry for the "crazy" eyes...flash on the camera!

Stewie is our jack russell.  He was my husbands dog, who found a special place in my heart.  He is full of energy and fits right into our crazy family dynamics.

With Mother's Day just recently behind us, I've been doing a lot of thinking.  Does being a mom to a human really feel that much different than being a mother to our pets?  I know that having kids is not in my life plan, but does that mean that I will never feel that "unconditional love" that every mother speaks of?

I love this quote from Ashley over at Lucky Dog Rescue Blog:

“Loving, nurturing, raising, protecting, defending, teaching, guiding, caring, and providing for a “child”… every single day… no matter what…
That’s what makes you a mother.

Loving them so much… that you’re willing to place their needs well-above your own…
That’s what makes you a mother.

Loving them so unconditionally… that there’s simply nothing they could ever do to sway your devotion from them…
That’s what makes you a mother.

Doing all of these things… to the very best of your ability… every moment you’re alive…
That’s what makes you a mom.

I don’t care what anyone says…
Trust me…
I’m a mom.

Ask any of my pets…
They’ll tell you…
I’m a mom.”
